It was a chilly evening but it didn't keep some of you from coming out to strum and sing. Tim finally made it to what was his second meeting (he was at the very first one)and we were all glad to have him there with us. There was also a photographer from the City Paper at the meeting getting photos for a story they are doing about our uke club and should be in the November 27th edition of The City Paper. I briefly did my version of "Purple Haze" which I would be more than happy to teach to everyone else so that we could play that one together (who wants to do the Jimmy Hendrixesque solo?)We looked at "Baby on Board" from the Simpsons but never really did much with it; however, I think everyone agreed that it would be a real crowd pleaser especially if we could nail down the four part harmony on the vocals. If you want to hear it you can see and hear a clip on the NUkeS weblog (thanks Tim). And Jill brought copies of "You Belong to Me" which is such a great little uke song and I can't wait to play that one with everyone again. Thanks again to everyone who came out - it's always fun for me and I hope it's fun for you as well. There will be no regularly scheduled meeting in December, instead we are having our first annual NUkeS Christmas Party on December 16th at my house - starts at ~6pm. There will be food and drinks (bring something to share if you wish). Your children are welcome so bring them along too and don't forget your ukulele. We'll play a few Christmas tunes and maybe have a bagpiper (with a small set of fireside pipes) join us. If you are on my mailing list then you should have received the email invitation. Don't forget to RSVP.See you next time.
